Murals at North End Terraces in Charlotte, NC
North End Terraces is a townhome development across from the artful, event, entertainment and cultural destination known as Camp North End in Charlotte, NC. Hopper Communities approached Lee Calderon to develop five murals to visually brand the new community with the intent to draw inspiration from the nearby artsy and industrial vibe of Camp North End. The vision was to leverage the established branding of North End Terraces, while capturing a sense of the community’s planned and vibrant, modern urban lifestyle.

The Vision Behind The Art
The vision for the murals at North End Terraces was to add a layer of engagement and delight for those who would visit and make up the community. Taking cues from the neighboring iconic Camp North End, Lee set off to develop a visual language for his art that would on one hand borrow the industrial and mural vibe, while tying back to the architecture’s brand color palette. The art was further enhanced by building a visual narrative that reflected the lifestyle and urban energy that was to come.
The Process
Lee created the art as vector-based, scalable digital art, so it can be output at the final size according to the building plans. The art was designed with precision to reinforce the brand’s color palette and to be output onto glass panels, integrating nicely into the architecture. The artwork was sent as digital files to a local print vendor, then prepped and installed throughout various strategic locations of the buildings.
About The Artist
Lee’s art is a reflection of how he sees the world and its pieces. He creates visual narratives made up of layers, design, symbols and movement. Like an architect, he designs each piece as a place where emotion, spirit and story come together — with the intent to bring joy to those who experience it.
